What exactly do I receive, and in what formats?

A download with numbered folders, one per system: Herd Dashboard, Breeding & Kidding Planner, Health Records, Feed & Pasture, Milk, Products & Sales, Farm Finance Kit. Each folder holds the workbook in three versions (a blank one to start, a sample filled with a fictional herd of eight goats, and a Google Sheets version) plus its printable forms in PDF and Word, in both A4 and US Letter.

Alongside them: the Quick Start Guide, the Goat Farming Starter Guide, the First Year Roadmap, the printable Binder Kit and the 8 Breed Cards.

Do I need Excel? Does it work in Google Sheets or on my phone?

It works in Excel 2016 or newer (Windows and Mac) and in Google Sheets: every folder includes a Sheets-ready version you upload to Google Drive in two clicks. Dropdowns, colors, charts and the Alerts page carry over. LibreOffice and Numbers open the files too, with minor layout differences.

On a phone, Google Sheets handles daily milk and health entries well; the Summary and Alerts pages read better on a tablet or computer. For the barn itself, most people use the printed forms on a clipboard and type them up once a week.

I am not a spreadsheet person. Will I break it?

No. Every sheet follows one rule: cream cells are yours to type in, white cells calculate on their own, gold cells are selectors. The sheets are protected without a password, so you cannot overwrite a formula by accident, and every dropdown gives you the right options. The Quick Start Guide walks the setup in an afternoon, and the sample workbook shows every page already filled in so you can see how it should look.

Is it built for my herd size and my kind of goats?

It is sized for 2 to 30 goats, the range where a keeper does everything and a spreadsheet beats farm software. Dairy, meat, fiber and pet goats all fit: the Herd sheet tags each goat by purpose, the breed list covers Nigerian Dwarf to Boer to Kiko, and the milk, kidding and sales sheets simply stay empty if you do not use them. The forms have room for 500 to 3,000 rows per sheet, enough for years of records.

How do the six systems work together?

Through the same Goat IDs and the same column layouts. The Breeding, Health, Feed, Milk and Finance sheets inside the Herd Dashboard use exactly the columns of the deeper modules, so a row you type in one place pastes cleanly into the other. Many keepers type everything into the Dashboard and open the other modules only when they want the deeper view: the health card generator, the lactation summary, the break-even sheet.

Does the Health module tell me what to give my goats?

No, and on purpose. The binder records: what was given, when, by whom, and the milk and meat withdrawal dates that follow. It never suggests products, doses or schedules; those decisions belong to you and your veterinarian, and the planning dates in the Kidding Planner are settings you fill in with your vet's advice. What the binder guarantees is that nothing you decide gets forgotten or sold under withdrawal.

Can I print the forms? Which paper size?

Yes. Every form comes in A4 and US Letter, as a fillable PDF you can type into on any device and as a Word file you can edit. Print what you use and skip the rest. The Binder Kit adds the cover, spine labels, tabbed dividers and monthly pages, so a 2 inch binder becomes the barn copy of your records.

When do I get access, and can I come back to it later?

Right after checkout: the download link is on the confirmation page and in your email. The files are yours to keep on your computer or in your Drive, with no subscription and no account to log into. Licensed for personal use on a single farm.
